Erasmus MC Sophia Kinderziekenhuis
Project Description
For the Erasmus MC Sophia Children's Hospital in Rotterdam, HBI Bisscheroux provided a future-proof emergency lighting solution. A total of 526 fixtures were equipped with certified LoRa technology, allowing for wireless management via the Sqippa Online IoT platform. The installation was carried out by WL Techniek, with support from HBI and Sqippa.
Why This Project Stands Out
The Sophia Children's Hospital had specific requirements: a reliable monitoring system that causes minimal disruption and is suitable for a complex healthcare environment. Thanks to LoRa technology, this was made possible. "We achieved full coverage with just two gateways. The hospital’s walls and steel structures posed hardly any obstacle for communication."
"When you look at the installation and implementation of the system, wireless management with HBI and Sqippa is a real advantage. It saves time and therefore reduces costs."
Results and Benefits
- Fully wireless management via the Sqippa Online IoT platform
- Real-time monitoring of battery status and faults
- Fast installation with minimal infrastructure
- Cost savings on maintenance and periodic inspections
- Compliance with Environmental Law, ISSO 79, and NEN-EN 50172
Collaboration and Approach
The approach was intensive but efficient. "This was the first project for WL Techniek where the emergency lighting is managed fully wirelessly. After a detailed product explanation and a one-day training session, the installation team was able to get started independently."
